Lorenz (Larry) Hart (May 2, 1895 - November 22, 1943) was the lyrist half of the celebrated Broadway songwriting team Rodgers and Hart.
Hart attended Columbia University, where the reciprocal friend introduced him to composer Richard Rodgers in 1919, & them wrote songs for a series of amateur and student productions until the neat profits of their score for the 1925 Theatre Guild production, The Garrick Gaieties, brought them wider acclamation. It continued working together until Hart's dying inside 1943, along the way producing scores for the series of hit shows & making a material contribution to the Great American Songbook.
Hart struggled by using his have homosexuality (in an erthe after such a life style was socially unacceptable) & by using severe alcoholism, which eventually contributed to his demise.
